KatelynAudreyFall2007WP Thumbnail

I took a few of the semi-recent Katelyn and Audrey studio pictures, and compiled them into a desktop background.  As before, I made them in various sizes to match your own computer's desktop.  To find out what yours is set to, right-click on your current desktop, select Properties from the menu, select the Settings tab, and check out what it says for Screen Resolution.

Click on your closest match, and when the image loads, right click on the image and select "Set as Background"

How do you do that? Awesome!

wouldn't it be silly for me to have Kate and Audry as our desktop image? (Even sillier as they're obviously not set up for a mac... with the more blank spot being on the left instead of the right.)

Yes Jen, it would be silly... :)

As for how? Photoshop. We got the 4 digital images from the studio, cropped the primary image to 3200x2400 (4x3 aspect ratio), resized the others to something like 1000x750-ish and added them as layers over the first, added drop shadows, then added another layer with the teamhooper.net text with a slight outer glow, a slight wood-grain luminosity-altering texture overlay, and a drop shadow that matched the smaller photos. Then, for each resolution, I used the selection tool, with a fixed aspect ratio that matched the screen dimensions, cropped the image, moved the overlaid images and text slightly, then flattened and resized the whole thing to match the specific resolution.

Honestly, all that took about 30 minutes to an hour. The time sink in this one was in trying to extend the main image (right of Kate's arm is all faked). I finally gave up and decided to overlay the images to the right. And then I broke the blog while trying to be clever in uploading the images in the post.
